CEEDS Summer Volunteer Programme and Teaching Internship in China

Still haven't had a plan for this summer yet? Why not go to China and join our fantastic teaching programmes? This summer CEEDS will present you two dedicated programmes: a Volunteer Summer Camp to post-earthquake regions in China and a Teaching Internship Program in Southeast China (Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou ...).

We will be holding a presentation at 7-8pm, 21 Feb at Lecture Theatre, Trinity Hall. Volunteers from last year’s camp will talk about their unforgettable experience and we will be answering any queries related to the volunteering and the internship program. Please also note that CEEDS will organise a school visiting camp to China during this Easter break.         1. CEEDS Summer Volunteer Programme

Date: 25 June – 31July 2011 (Please note you could join the Volunteer Summer Camp halfway if you have other commitments. Feel free to discuss your availability with us.)

Schedule: Volunteers spend 2 weeks in Sichuan, followed by 1 week free time for travelling and sightseeing, then another 2 weeks at Qinghai

Activities: Volunteers plan and give interactive lessons and activities to primary/secondary school students. It will be an amazingly fun and fulfilling experience.

We are looking for 15 volunteers – 3 bilingual managers (fluent in English and Mandarin), 12 English teachers (native speakers preferred), who are:

•        enthusiastic, motivated, responsible and easy to get along with

•        willing to work with primary/middle school students

•        previous teaching experience is preferred but not essential 

Please submit your CV and a working plan on how you would like to arrange a two-week's course (up to one page, contents up to you) to 2011summer@cam-ceeds.org. Preferably by midnight, 27th Feb, late applications might acceptable. Selected applicants will be interviewed in the following week.

          2. Teaching Internship Program

Selected candidates (Native English speakers preferred) will teach English or subject courses in a high school inSoutheast China. Duration and start date are flexible and can range from 1-2 months to one year. Schools will be covering accommodation and food and providing some stipend. Long-term stay has the opportunity to obtain a work contract with full payment.

Applying: Please submit your CV and a short answer to why you are a suitable candidate to 2011summer@cam-ceeds.org. Please also specify your available time slot and preference (location, short or long teaching etc.). Selected candidates will be interviewed by us in the coming few weeks before we recommend to our collaborating schools in China. The deadline is continuous.


ChinaVisiting Camp March 28 - April 8

For those of you who wish to pay an in-depth visit to China but might not be available during the summer, here is a good news for you. CEEDS will organise a visiting camp to middle schools in China during Easter term break.  The camp will start from Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province. After one week staying in Chengdu, we will fly to Eastern part of China and visit schools in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Wuxi and Nanjing. We will interact with the students in each school and talk to them about our study and life in Cambridge, inspiring them to study hard to realize their dreams. The camp will also arrange sightseeing to places of interests in each city. Food, accommodation and all travel cost within China will be covered by CEEDS. There are only two openings available for this visiting camp. Please apply as soon as possible to info@cam-ceeds.org with a relevant CV and a short statement.
